Hedera Helix is an evergreen, perennial, self-clinging climber. Glossy, dark green, diamond shaped leaves with pale green veins are accompanied by clusters of small greenish yellow flowers from September to November, providing a late source of pollen for bees and other insects. The flowers are followed during the winter by small black berries, which will provide a winter food source for birds.
Growing to an ultimate height of 8-12m and an ultimate spread of 2.5-4m, Hedera Helix is perfect as a climbing vine or for trailing ground cover. This fully hardy plant is ideal for pergolas or for creating a backdrop underneath clematis or climbing roses. It would also look great when young trailing over containers or hanging baskets and will also do well indoors in a humid environment.
