Carex 'Intense Green'

Boasting long, slender leaves that arch out from the centre, creating a fountain-like effect, Carex Intense Green originates from East Asia and is often referred to by the common name, Japanese Sedge. Carex Intense Green is a well-structured, graceful plant and its evergreen nature adds year-round texture interest to the garden.

As the name would suggest, the leaves are vivid green in colour and form the perfect base for the tall stems of white, wheat-like flowers that bloom from May to June.

Japanese Sedge is low maintenance and easy to care for. It thrives in full sun or partial shade and prefers a well-draining soil that doesn’t get waterlogged in winter. Fully hardy, this ornamental grass only requires a quick comb through in early spring to remove damaged foliage and stimulate new growth.
